RECORDED - 36 Date: December 9, 1954 To: Director of Special Investigations The Inspector General Department of the Air Force The Pentagon Washington 25, D. C. From: John Edgar Hoover, Director Federal Bureau of Investigation Subject: FLYING SAUCERS This Bureau's Office at Phoenix, Arizona, received from the [REDACTED] Arizona, a form letter which he received from [REDACTED] Hill, London, N. 16, England. The envelope containing the form letter was postmarked "Stoke, Newington, 10-26-54." The form letter with a typewritten note bearing the signature of [REDACTED], who identified himself as "Aerial Phenomena Investigator," seeks information regarding the sighting of flying saucers. [REDACTED] indicated that the purpose of his inquiry was "in order to bring my reports and filing system up to date it would be very much appreciated if you would kindly complete the enclosed form and return same to me." The form calls for the following type data concerning any flying saucers observed: "Time of sighting, size, shape, composition, speed, altitude, direction, manoeuvre pattern, color, sound, length of time observed, sky conditions, visibility, direction of ground wind."
