    U. S. TREASURY DEPARTMENT OFFICE OF DISTRICT SUPERVISOR DISTRICT NO. 9, ALCOHOL TAX UNIT 734 NEW POST OFFICE BUILDING CHICAGO 7, ILL. INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE Alcohol Tax Unit IN REPLY REFER TO: April 2, 1950 Federal Bureau of Investigation Washington D.C. This is not an April Fool joke. Saturday, April 1, 1950 at about 6 P.M. I was driving north on Route 47 - west of Geneva, Illinois and a little north of St. Charles, Illinois. Just ahead, thru the windshield I saw a silvery white object in the sky. It was traveling west at about the speed of an airplane. It was shaped like this [drawing of a trapezoid]. I was driving at 35 M.P.H. and slowed down to 20 M.P.H. to watch this object. It went behind a white cloud and I continued to watch but the object did not come out from behind the cloud as far as I could see. Geneva is 35 miles west of Chicago, and just north of Chicago is the Glenview Airport, operated I believe by the Navy. The Saturday Evening Post carried an article sometime ago about the Flying Saucers and it said to report anything like the above to the F.B.I. RECORDED - 56 62-83894- [unclear] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] DJC [unclear] ack 4/11/50 [unclear] 4-11-50 281 N. 1st St. Geneva, Ill.
