    (5) But sometime later, Hennecy, the electric co-op foreman, heard that a plane or meteor had fallen near the co-op's substation so he, accompanied by Grady Lewis, went to check the area to see if any of the REA's property had been damaged. Hennecy gave this account. While he and Lewis were driving through the area, they saw an object at an altitude of about 1,000 feet. They lost it. But later, when on the Mullins Highway, they saw the object hovering over a house near the highway. They drove about two miles and got directly under it. The object, when first sighted, was distinguished by a bright yellow light but when they got under it the light went out and they then saw a group of at least 12 red, green and yellow lights arranged in a diamond shape. After they were under it, the object began to move, first slowly and then with a burst of speed. It disappeared in the northeast after they had chased it along the highway at 70 miles an hour. John O. Lewis Jr., the newspaper correspondent, said he, his father and Paige had seen the lights about 8:30 p.m. near the spot where Hennecy and Mrs. Smith had reported seeing them. Hennecy discounted the Lewis belief that the object was a blimp or a jet plane because, he said, it cruised too slowly at times and then too fast at other times. Unexplained Object Seen By Several at Lake View LAKE VIEW, Feb. 14 (Special)—That may have been a meteor which was reported Friday about 6:30 p.m. If so, what was the lighted object some other people around here saw at 10:30 the same night? Three men who saw a red and white illuminated shape moving northwestward at that hour, also report hearing a sound like an electric motor or an auto engine with a knock in it. Travis Cook, Kenneth C. Dew and Lowell Perrill related today their experience. They were driving southwesterly on Highway 41 below Lake View when the object was sighted. They turned around and stopped the car, getting out. The object moved almost overhead, they insisted, going slowly northeastward. They counted four lights. As to the early manifestation: Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Perrill were a little way east of Lake View at 6:27 p.m. They saw an object moving through the sky, it was yellowish in the forepart, shading to an orange glow toward the stern. The Perrills thought it was a meteor. Maybe it was. It would be a mighty odd meteor that came back four hours later, people around here think. More "Flying Saucers" Feb-27-1953 Report of seeing a strange light in the sky this morning makes the third "flying saucer" possibility in the Conneaut area this week. Two others were reported at Erie and another at Amherst, O. The latest report was made this morning from residents of Monroe Township. The light was seen about 6:05 a.m. in the western sky. Of a yellow white light, the object was eye-shaped and appeared to be about eight inches across. It did not appear to move but the light shimmered. It was seen for possibly two minutes. Two persons saw the light. The first to spot it thought at first it might be the light at a neighboring residence, or the reflection of a light within the room since it was still dark at 6:05. Both ideas were eliminated. The second person saw the light from another room in the house. The light did not disappear suddenly. The light had the strength of a welding flame, but not the bluish color. The distance away was not estimated, but the light was a considerable distance above the tree tops. Reports of the strange lights continued to pile up along the North Carolina and South Carolina coast-line. Three Myrtle Beach residents said they saw an unidentifiable object fly inland at about 1,000 feet last night. FEB 17 53 Moving Light Watched in Sky for Two Hours Feb-14-1953 Monroe, Wis.—The ground observers corps post here reported to the Chicago filter center that unexplained light in the sky was under observation for more than two hours early Friday. Bill Rust, city editor of the Monroe Evening Times, was called to the post along with the Green county sheriff, Wilber Deininger. Rust said he and the sheriff also saw the light, which he described as changing from red to green to white and moving slowly on a west to east course. Mr. and Mrs. Enoch E. Huston and Mrs. Ralph Melton, the regular post observers, said that when first seen the light moved more rapidly and erratically than later. COMES A FLYIN' DOUGHNUT! Feb-24-1953 Anybody lost a flying doughnut? They spotted one about 3000 feet over Pasadena yesterday. It hovered around for a minute or two shortly after noon, then headed south—presumably in search of saucer, cup and coffee. Teacher John Bietz, of 1037 New York Dr., Altadena, said it hovered over him for a moment as he watched from Colorado Blvd. near Ave. 64, just "It had a hole in the middle like a doughnut," he said. Mrs Emily Chapman, 3765 Millicent Way, East Pasadena, said it made no sound and was very shiny. "I never saw anything so brilliant in my life," she declared. "It disappeared when I went inside to phone my neighbor." Police said they, too, had a call on the doughnut. But Pasadena Filter Center officials said it didn't turn up on their It Changes Shape Excites Tujur A Flying Saucer changes shape!!!!! That's the latest in reports to D. A. J. Drebatz, of Valle Station by residents of this morning. The latest weirdie was suspended high in the emanating flames and smoke. The half-dozen that excitedly called police at times resembled a triangle, then a cigar. Space patrol was notified. On February 23, at 3:50 Ralph Venn, observed for seconds, a metallic disc over Lick Lake, near Goshen. Kain, formerly an Air technician at Wright Field the object emitted an incandescent whitish-glow and traveled faster-than-jet speed. The object, minus protruding parts, resembled characteristically in flight, but left no trail in a cloudless sky. Kain said the object was not a jet. Visitors 'See Flying Saucer Feb 24 1953 They're at it again—the elusive flyin' saucers. At least a Detroit couple reported seeing some sort of phenomena about midnight Sunday which had them agog for almost a half hour. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Andrews, winter visitors, were enjoying the evening at Mira Mar Beach when suddenly a glowing light appeared high in the sky to the east. Fascinated, the couple followed the vision as it glowed from white to orange, blue and various other hues. It would suddenly travel with the speed of a jet and then rise to indeterminate heights where it would hover momentarily. "I couldn't sleep the remainder of the night just thinking about that thing," Andrews reported. "I always thought the saucers were a lot of bunk, but after seeing what I did last night I'm now convinced there is something to it." His amazement was shared with his wife who said the vision was absolutely fascinating to observe." The Andrews are vacationing here at 300 W. Grove St. Sarasota Herald Tribune
